Leo P. McLaughlin: Undisputed Boss of Hot Springs

Leo P. McLaughlin served as mayor of Hot Springs, Arkansas from 1927 to 1947. In his twenty years as the mayor he was a notorious but flamboyant character that ran a powerful political machine and helped great a very profitable gambling syndicate. He was at times generous and other times juvenile, yet he cared deeply for the city of Hot Springs.
